Castaway Cay Cabanas (2026): Locations, Perks & How to Book

View from a shaded Castaway Cay cabana toward the beach and turquoise water.

If you’re planning a Disney Cruise in 2026 and want to take your Castaway Cay experience to the next level, renting a cabana is the ultimate way to enjoy privacy, relaxation, and extra perks. As a travel advisor who specializes in Disney destinations, I’m here to help you make the most of your time on Disney’s private island in the Bahamas.

Quick Answer

Quick answer: A Castaway Cay cabana is most valuable when your family wants a private home base, shade and an easier beach day. Availability is limited, so booking strategy matters just as much as deciding whether the upgrade fits your budget.

Why Choose a Castaway Cay Cabana

A Castaway Cay Cabana offers more than just a place to rest, it transforms your day into a luxurious island retreat. Whether you’re a family looking for convenience or a couple seeking privacy, these cabanas provide:

  • A shaded, quiet space

  • Oceanfront views

  • Attentive service

  • Easy access to island activities

Cabana availability is limited. Plan around your actual activity-booking window, and have an island-day plan you will enjoy if no cabana becomes available.

Types of Castaway Cay Cabanas

Disney’s June 2026 cabana guidance identifies three areas. A family cabana near Serenity Bay is not the same as access to the adults-only beach.

Area Who it is for Published capacity guidance
Sandcastle Cabanas Family Beach; all ages 6 included; up to 10 with an additional guest fee
Mickey and Minnie Cove Cabanas Family cabanas near Serenity Bay 6 included; up to 10 with an additional guest fee
Serenity Bay Cabanas Adults ages 18+ 4 included; up to 10 for a fee

Two Grand Cabanas have different capacities: 12 included, up to 16 for a fee. Disney’s guidance excludes ages 0–2 from these occupancy totals. Check the exact listing for your party before reserving.

Amenities of Castaway Cay Cabanas

Disney’s published family-cabana guidance describes shaded seating, a hammock, a freshwater shower, towels, sunscreen, snacks and a refrigerator with water and soda, plus snorkeling, float and bicycle rentals.

Confirm your specific cabana’s current inclusions, especially when comparing family and adults-only areas. Do not assume a private butler, unlimited alcoholic drinks or restaurant-style food delivery. Plan where your group will get lunch and check any additional charges before ordering.

Castaway Cay Cabana Map and Current Area Names

The map below is an archived orientation map, not a current cabana-number booking map. It uses older beach-cabana labels. Use the current Sandcastle, Mickey and Minnie Cove, and Serenity Bay names above when checking availability; confirm your assigned cabana and route with Disney.

The Family Beach and adults-only Serenity Bay are separate parts of the island. A cabana choice affects walking, tram use and proximity to activities; do not assume every cabana is next to Pelican Plunge or family dining.

Castaway Cay Cabana Prices and How to Book

How Much Do Castaway Cay Cabanas Cost?

As a dated planning reference, an April 26, 2026 planDisney answer quoted $1,050 for up to six guests in a Sandcastle or Mickey and Minnie Cove cabana, plus $56 per additional guest up to the listed limit. This is not a live quote for your sailing. Category, inclusions and pricing can change; view your own available Port Adventure listing for the charge and cancellation terms.

When Can You Reserve?

Disney requires full cruise payment and an open activity-booking window. Its official activity-booking schedule currently lists:

  • First-time cruisers: 75 days before sailing.
  • Silver Castaway Club: 90 days.
  • Gold: 105 days.
  • Platinum: 120 days.
  • Pearl: 123 days.
  • Concierge: contact Shoreside Concierge for booking up to 130 days before sailing; online booking opens at 123 days.
  1. Confirm your exact window and paid-in-full status.
  2. Open My Reservations, then My Plans, and select your Castaway Cay day and available activities.
  3. Review the cabana area, guest list, price and terms before saving.
  4. If unavailable, monitor cancellations and ask onboard Guest Services or Port Adventures about a waitlist.

An advisor can help organize the process and monitor availability, but cannot create extra inventory or guarantee a cabana. Booking and area details checked October 19, 2026.

Are They Worth It

A cabana can be worth it if shade, a dedicated home base and your group’s comfort justify the cost. It is an optional upgrade, rather than a requirement for an enjoyable island day. For those who want to relax in luxury without dealing with crowds or carrying extra gear, a cabana makes a big difference. Especially for special celebrations or multi-generational trips, it’s worth the upgrade.

Weather on Castaway Cay

To make the most of your cabana day, it’s important to be aware of Castaway Cay weather. Weather varies by season. Summer can be hot and humid, and wind or sea conditions may affect the port visit. Choose a cruise you will enjoy even if the island day changes.

Nearby Activities to Enjoy

Activity access depends on your cabana area and the route you take. Family-beach attractions are not adjacent to every cabana, particularly those at adults-only Serenity Bay. Check the current island map, tram stops and walking route before planning time for:

  • Snorkeling Lagoon: Explore underwater treasures including a sunken submarine and Disney statues

  • Pelican Plunge: Great fun for families, with floating slides and splash zones

  • Biking Trails: A peaceful way to explore the island’s natural beauty

Beachside dining, shops and shaded rest areas are in different parts of the island. Confirm which services are closest to your cabana and allow time to reach any family-beach activities from Serenity Bay.
