When most people hear Disney Cruise Line

They instantly think: kids, characters, and family fun. And while Disney cruises are all of these things, here’s a little secret from me to you — Disney cruises are just as heavenly (and maybe even more relaxing) without the kids. Yes – a Disney cruise, without kids. Hear me out…Life Onboard Without KidsA few weeks ago, my three best friends and I boarded the Disney Wish for a three-night sailing to Nassau and Castaway Cay, and for the first time ever… we left our husbands and kids at home. Just four moms in our 40s, trading carpools and dinner duty for champagne toasts and ocean views. And it was everything we never knew we needed! From the moment we left our houses, we were instantly reminded how necessary it is for us busy, hard-working moms to take some time to ourselves to relax and reset. There were no tiny suitcases hitting our heels, no airport bathroom breaks or chasing kids down hallways. (Sure – we missed them. But dare I say that it is liberating to actually put yourself first, as mom, for the first time in, well, forever?!)

Once we arrived into Orlando and stepped onboard the most most beautiful ship in sea, Disney Wish, we realized Disney doesn’t just cater to families — they’ve actually perfected the art of adult luxury, too.

There are entire areas of the ship designed exclusively for guests 18+, and let me tell you — these spaces are dreamy. Think: quiet pools, elegant bars, adult conversations, incredible dining, and service that’s every bit as magical as what Disney is known for.

Our first stop: straight to the champagne bar, followed by blow outs and pedicures at the Untangled Salon – easily a core memory for all of us! We spent hours being pampered before heading to dinner that evening – a seldom-seized opportunity.

We sipped coffee on our balcony in the mornings, got our steps in at the Sense fitness center, spent afternoons lounging by the Quiet Cove (adults only) pool, and laughed late into the night over espresso martinis and beignets at The Bayou.

No melt downs. No bedtimes. No alarms. Just sunshine, laughter, and sisterhood. The kind that leaves you wanting more!

Pampering at sea — our girls’ trip wouldn’t be complete without a relaxing spa day at Senses Spa aboard the Disney Wish.

The Perfect Set-Up

We booked two connecting Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms with Verandahs, and it was honestly the perfect setup. Everyone had their own space to sleep, get ready, and unpack, but we could open the connecting door — and even the verandah divider — to turn it into one big shared suite. It felt like the best of both worlds: our own cozy retreats and a shared space for morning coffee and late-night laughter.

Our Bahamian Port Days: Nassau & Castaway Cay

We decided to skip the crowds and spend our Nassau port day at Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, one of my favorite luxury resorts in The Bahamas, perfect for a girl’s day!

Picture this: infinity pools overlooking turquoise water, tropical cocktails in hand, and four beachfront loungers calling our name. We talked, we laughed, and we didn’t have to chase a single child through the splash pad. Bliss. It was the perfect adult escape, and so easy to do — a quick 15-minute taxi from port and we were there.

The next day we docked at Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island, and after enjoying a (rare, still hot) cup of coffee at the Quiet Cove rooftop pool, we headed straight to Serenity Bay, the adults-only beach. (Yes, we bypassed all the families with kiddos!)

White sand, crystal-clear water, and frozen drinks that somehow tasted better because there were no “Mom, watch this!” interruptions.

We stayed all day. We napped, we floated, we ate lunch barefoot in the sand, and we all agreed that this was the definition of vacation.

Here’s What Surprised Us Most

Even as a travel advisor who’s been on plenty of Disney cruises, I am always so impressed by how much there is for adults to enjoy:

  • Elevated dining (don’t skip Palo Brunch)
  • Incredible cocktails and lounges
  • Mixology classes, tastings, and quiet deck corners made for conversation
  • A spa that will make you want to move in permanently
  • Adult-exclusive shows that leave you belly laughing
  • Plush stateroom accommodations
  • Split bathrooms, making it so easy for us ladies to get ready every day
  • Spacious, connecting balconies made for fun mornings sipping coffee and chatting

Don’t get me wrong – we love and adore our families, but there were many moments where we mentioned how shocked we were at how many times we never even saw a kiddo in site! Yes, even on a Disney cruise!

And we weren’t alone — we met plenty of couples, girlfriends, and even solo travelers who were doing the exact same thing: enjoying the Disney magic, no kids required.

Bottom line: We loved it so much that… we’re doing it again!

That’s right — a Ladies Disney Cruise is officially in the works for next year, and you’re invited to join us. Details are coming soon, but if you’ve ever dreamed of a Disney vacation that’s all about you, keep an eye out (and make sure you’re on my email list!). Join the waitlist here to be the first to receive more information and book your stateroom! We will have a limited amount of cabins and you won’t want to miss out!
